Matt Rider is a senior enterprise technology executive with more than 25 years of experience leading modernization, integration, and operating-model transformation across highly regulated financial services organizations. He has served as Chief Information Officer for national banking and mortgage platforms supporting millions of customers and is recognized for stabilizing complex technology ecosystems while modernizing them to strengthen resilience, regulatory confidence, and business performance.

Scope and Scale

Across his career, Matt has led $100M+ transformation portfolios spanning core platform modernization, cloud migration, cybersecurity and technology risk uplift, data and analytics enablement, and enterprise operating-model redesign. He has built and led global organizations of more than 2,500 technology professionals, aligning strategy, execution, and governance to reduce complexity, improve delivery velocity, and lower operational risk.

Integration and Crisis Leadership

Matt’s leadership is grounded in operating effectively under pressure. During his tenure at JPMorgan Chase, he held a senior leadership role in technology integration efforts during the 2008 financial crisis, including accelerated integration initiatives tied to Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual. His work contributed to stabilizing critical operations under intense regulatory, market, and operational scrutiny.

CIO Leadership Across Banking and Mortgage

Matt later applied this crisis-tested discipline as CIO of Franklin American Mortgage Company, where he led enterprise modernization and served as a pivotal leader through the Citizens Financial Group acquisition and integration. As CIO of Wells Fargo Home Lending, he advised senior executives while modernizing one of the largest mortgage technology environments in the United States, strengthening cybersecurity and technology risk governance in alignment with regulatory expectations.

Executive Advisory and AI Governance

In addition to operating roles, Matt serves in executive advisory capacities with boards, CEOs, CIOs, and COOs on modernization strategy, integration planning, operating-model evolution, and governed enterprise AI. His approach emphasizes clarity of accountability, execution discipline, and balancing innovation with stability in environments where trust is non-negotiable.
